One person is solely responsible for the Montreal Canadiens to be holding a playoff spot. That person is not Head Coach Jacques Martin, nor is it Scott Gomez with his 7.5 million dollar contract, or Captain Brian Gionta with his 26 goals. Nope, the only person responsible for the Habs holding onto a playoff spot is Carey Price.
Yes, the same Carey Price that I blasted in public on Facebook, and criticized to no end. I was quick to make my point across that keeping Price over Jaroslav Halak was a big mistake, and that the Habs would end up regretting it. Was I ever wrong.
After struggling in the Pre-Season and telling the fans after a game against Ottawa to: “Chill out, it’s just the Pre-Season.” I was laughing to myself thinking that the Habs are in deep trouble, and that we would not be close to a playoff spot. Was I ever wrong again.
Price this season has been playing phenomenal this season and making me eat every word that I had put out there. Price as single handily kept Montreal in a playoff spot, and fighting for the division lead. He’s been giving them a chance to win every night, and some nights he’s been winning the games for them.
At this point, Price as played in 67 games, with 34 wins and 27 loses. 8 Shutouts, and save % of .922. His goal against average is a 2.40, which is excellent considering that the Habs are only averaging 2.6 goals a game. The only thing Price hasn’t done this season is score goals, and considering that the Habs have been scoreless for the last 3 games, he should consider trying to score also.
Price this season as matured. He appears more responsible in every aspect of his game and his life. He’s been keeping away from trouble on and off the ice, and it appears in his demeanor and attitude. Plus, he’s got his best friend playing alongside him in PK Subban. These 2 guys are the future of the Habs, and with them leading the way the future looks bright.
With 6 games left before the playoff, and the Habs still not guaranteed a playoff spot, but one thing is for certain, whatever happens: WE CANNOT BLAME CAREY PRICE. Price as made me eat every negative word that I had said about him in the Off-Season and they’ve never tasted better.
Go Habs Go!!!!
